“Hi Helen,  Thank you very much for your contribution to the FCAA conference. Your shrouds were beautiful and have generated so much interest and a member has emailed me saying she was quite overwhelmed by morning tea by the amazing work she  had seen presented.  It was lovely to meet you and I hope we see you again. Many, many thanks.  Jenny”

“Hi Helen, Mum absolutely loves it (funeral gown).  She put it straight on and hasn’t taken it off!  And she put all her jewellery on then just slept peacefully all afternoon.  Tasman’s neckpiece sits perfectly.  We are thrilled, it is so beautiful and perfect.  Thank you so much.”

Doreen Paton 85 year old Glebe resident

“When I saw in the local paper a feature story about the shrouds Helen Dunne makes it appealed to me and I thought, I’d like that, something just for me.

Eventually, Helen made my shroud according to my design and the finished product was very pleasing to me.

Thank you Helen and good luck in your shroud making venture.”

“Having witnessed firsthand the healing power of rituals and ceremonies, the Funeral Shroud would add a special dimension to the dying process focusing on celebrating the life that has been lived and allowing family members to connect with one another in a heartfelt way.”

“As someone who was involved in making a shroud for our father after dying I found it to be a beautiful experience. It allowed the family time to spend doing something purposeful and therapeutic. We talked, reminisced, laughed and cried. As adults, we have not had a lot of opportunity to spend time together and the experience of making the shroud was more than special and the shared task at the time of grief had a unifying effect”

“After the death of my father, the first person of real significance to pass away in my life, feelings of uselessness and confusion dominated. Helen’s idea of facilitating a group activity celebrating the recently deceased is unifying, occupying and cathartic, just what you need at this complex time. Alternately, ordering a customized shroud particular to the recently passed life would be a great alternative to the traditional “best outfit”.”

“I was immediately impressed with the concept of a personalized shroud. It fills a void that so many of us long for when we need to farewell a loved one. Apart from eulogies and sympathy cards, the whole process can seem rather impersonal. However, a shroud would provide a personal way to grieve collectively, almost therapeutically. It provides that safe and comfortable space to say the things you never said, to farewell a special person in a special way. I would definitely have one made for any family member, and would much prefer this for myself when I pass as well.”
